Salt-water solar-desalination by an innovative HDH

چکیده مقاله:
Lake of freshwater forced vulnerable communities to desalination. Also, high energy costs and brines are devastating issues for this approach. Solar humidification dehumidification (SHDH) systems are low energy and economical response to that problem. In this article with the aim of saltwater solar-desalination, an innovative SHDH design introduced, and in full-scale tested, successfully. In 400 m2 full-scale application, 600 m3 saline-water, TDS = 141 g l-1, and 196.2 kW electrical energy, inputted and 266 m3 freshwater, TDS = 210 mg l-1 with water recovery percentage of 44%, resulted. The slat removal efficiency was near 100%, also, surface-time efficiency varied, between 8 to 30 l m-2day-1. In conclusion, it should be stated, this SHDH would use to produce freshwater of brines.
